Pete Campbell & The Lazy Dog celebrate the release of “The Ballad of Dark and Light”

Sydney folk rock singer-songwriter Pete Campbell has spent the last five years honing his writing and performing skills, meeting and collaborating with other musicians, and releasing two solo EPs (A Second Glance, Parley), with songs featured on Sunburnt Country Music and receiving airplay on a number of community radio stations, including 2SER. A prolific live artist, Pete has been refining his songwriting craft on stage (he won the 2024 Fretfest Song Contest in Tamworth) and in the studio, as he heads towards the early 2026 release of the album Barely Fed, recorded with his live band, The Lazy Dog.

The Lazy Dog is comprised of Jed Wesley-Smith (Pat Powell, Bek Jensen, The Felas) on bass— who Pete met when Jed caught his set at the Gasoline Pony in 2023, Tim Bradley (Mambo Brown Trio, On The Stoop, Amber Kenny) on drums/percussion, and since the album was recorded, they've also been joined by Ross Waraker on keys.

Pete's sound is a blend of acoustic and electric folk styles – from Appalachia and London to the streets of Sydney – combined with blues, country, and Americana, showing that his influences are wide-ranging, from iconic artists such as Joni Mitchell, Nick Drake, Bob Dylan, Townes Van Zandt, and John Prine to contemporary songwriters such as Paul Kelly, Bernard Fanning, Neil Finn, and Laura Marling
